Photography has the remarkable ability to freeze moments in time, capturing memories, and stories within a single frame. In this article we will explore the beautiful world of wall art and how you may transform your cherished living space into a place full of breathtaking art that will adorn the walls. Wether this is your first art piece, or the last piece you will ever need to collect, we have you covered (and your walls) with the highest quality wall art.
Why Wall Art?
Wall art has become ever more popular as a way to personalize and enhance the look of our living spaces. Whether it’s a carefully chosen photograph/painting, a collection of family photos, or a striking sculpture, the art on one’s walls, and in their home, can reflect their tastes, interests, and memories. Furthermore, wall art has the power to transform the ambiance of a room. It can set the tone, evoke emotions, and even influence the overall atmosphere. For example, vibrant and energetic artworks can breathe life into a space, making it feel more dynamic and stimulating, while soothing and serene pieces can create a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In this way, wall art allows homeowners to curate their surroundings to match their moods and aspirations, making their homes not just a place to live, but a reflection of their inner world.

My clients and art collectors typically fall into two camps when choosing one of my art pieces. The most common being the type of person that chooses their art purely on the aesthetics appeal. These individuals are often looking for artwork that resonates with their personal tastes, and how it complements their interior decor. For instance, a bold and colorful abstract painting may add vibrancy and energy to a modern living space, while a serene landscape might create a sense of tranquility in a bedroom. Choosing art for its visual allure allows individuals to curate an environment that reflects their unique style and sensibilities, making their living spaces more visually engaging.
Some will connect with art because of their Emotional Connection to a Place. Travel often leaves a profound impact on people, and they seek artistic representations to capture the essence of those moments. A painting or photograph of a location they’ve visited can transport them back in time, evoking memories and emotions associated with that place. These artworks serve as powerful reminders of adventures, vacations, or even hometowns, providing a sense of nostalgia and a connection to the broader world. It’s not just about having a beautiful piece of wall art; it’s about reliving the memories and emotions tied to those remarkable locations, making the art a meaningful and cherished part of their lives.

While there are many options to choose from when looking for wall art, the truth is that there is a wide gap between budget artwork and high end artwork when it comes to photography prints. Using premium products for the print paper and the materials that mount and protect the image make all the difference. Superior materials when printing photography artwork also has a profound impact on both the color accuracy and overall impact of the piece. This also ensures that the colors in the artwork remain true and vibrant. High-quality papers (such as the metallic paper used exclusively in my printing process) have excellent color retention properties, preventing fading or color shifts over time. This means that the artwork will faithfully represent the photographer’s vision with colors that pop and details that remain crisp, creating a visually stunning and accurate representation of the original image.
As well, print materials play a crucial role in maintaining the sharpness of fine details in the image – something that many of my clients and collectors are really looking for in their photographic artwork. Metallic paper is my personal choice for photography prints, renowned for its ability to retain the highest level of detail and sharpness. This specialized paper is coated with a layer of metallic particles, which lends a distinct shimmer and depth to the image. The metallic base enhances the reflective qualities of the print, resulting in an extraordinary level of clarity and sharpness. This means that fine details, textures, and intricate elements within the photograph are reproduced with remarkable precision. Conversely, using subpar materials can compromise the sharpness and clarity of the print, potentially diminishing the impact and appreciation of the artwork – and worse yet, it can make the artwork feel “cheap”. Therefore, investing in high-quality materials is crucial for ensuring that the sharpness of the print is upheld at its finest, preserving the photographer’s vision and craftsmanship. Pairing photographic passion with a craftsman level attention to printing/mounting/preserving prints has always been my end goal.

The Process
The purpose of art is to evoke a feeling, and to capture attention and the imagination of a person, but this is a difficult task for low quality art. You want art that will command presence in a room and compliment the room, not just to simply utilize it as a filler for space. Additionally, well-chosen art can leave a lasting impression, creating memorable moments for guests and enhancing their sense of comfort and enjoyment while visiting.
The process of my wall art prints begin with a concept or idea of a place in nature. I have spent years researching areas around the world that would be well suited to being captured as wall art. Sometimes capturing my images can be relatively simple, but other times I have had to camp in remote areas of the world where there isn’t a road to be seen for days. Hiking in to remote locations and sleeping in a tent for weeks has become a wonderful thing to participate in, and has allowed me to gather some very unique art prints. Travelling around the globe I have sought after these locations and captured them with incredible detail with the use of very specialized cameras. Certain camera techniques preserve the colors and essence of what nature provides, so that I can provide exceptional prints for discerning clients.

After I have obtained the photographic prints from these locations, they must then be processed. Once again, it is a delicate process of rendering the colors and contrasts in order to make sure that the end result is a fantastic piece of art that is suited for any wall in your home. Processing the prints typically take tens of hours to develop until they are a representation of a certain personal level of quality and artistic craftsmanship.
The process of printing high quality wall art is something as complicated as the process of capturing the photographing prints. I spent years looking for a company that was able to produce prints to gallery quality standards. Many of the original printers that I tried were using many different practices, but all of them were disappointing in one area or another. Now, I utilize 2 different print companies to create my wall art prints for me, both using the highest quality materials and the same specific techniques.

My photography is first printed onto a specialized metallic paper that is specific to this type of artistic medium. The metallic paper creates a glowing effect on the paper, which makes the art come alive. Especially when the art is lit from overhead, it makes it look as though there is light coming through the back of the print. It can almost make you believe you are looking through a window into the scene of the art. After that, the paper is facemounted to a piece of acrylic glass. This protects the surface of the print, adds thickness (and a sense of quality), and creates a smooth and glossy surface for the art. The backside gets attached to a sheet of rigid backing which creates more thickness and strength to the print. A frame is then created on the back, allowing the print to “float” off from the wall. The final outcome is a piece of art that is supported by the best materials that work in unison to allow for the most luxurious wall art that is available. When I opted for this acrylic face-mounted procedure using metallic paper, it not only ensures that my work remains vivid and razor-sharp but also create prints that are truly captivating and visually stunning.
